ccbb85c67f cpu: Branch Predictor Refactoring
Major refactoring of the branch predictor unit.
- Clearer control flow of the main branch predictor
- Remove `uncondBranch` and `btbUpdate` functions in favour of a
common `historyUpdate` function. There is now only one lookup
function for conditional branches and the new `historyUpdate` for
  speculative history update.
- Added a new *target provider* class.
- More expressive statistics depending on the different branch types.
- Cleanup the branch history management

5387e67114 cpu: Restructure RAS
The return address stack (RAS) is restructured to be a separate SimObject.
This enables disabling the RAS and better separation of the functionality.
Furthermore, easier statistics and debugging.

f65df9b959 cpu: Refactor indirect predictor
Simplify indirect predictor interface. Several of the existing
functions where merged together into four clear once. Those
four are similar to the main direction predictor interface.
'lookup', 'update', 'squash' and 'commit'. This makes the
interface much more clear, allows better functionality isolation
and makes it simpler to develop new predictor models.

A new parameter is added to allow additional buffer space for
speculative path history.

edf9092fee cpu: Restructure BTB
- A new abstract BTB class is created to enable different BTB
implementations. The new BTB class gets its own parameter
  and stats.
- An enum is added to differentiate branch instruction types.
This enum is used to enhance statistics and BPU management.
- The existing BTB is moved into `simple_btb` as default.
- An additional function is added to store the static instruction in
the BTB. This function is used for the decoupled front-end.
- Update configs to match new BTB parameters.

7b39a7f14e misc: Rename DEBUG macro into GEM5_DEBUG
The DEBUG macro is not part of any compiler standards (differently from
NDEBUG, which elides assertions).

It is only meant to differentiate gem5.debug from .fast and .opt builds.
gem5 developers have used it to insert helper code that is supposed to
aid the debugging process in case anything goes wrong.

This generic name is likely to clash with other libraries linked with
gem5. This is the case of DRAMSim as an example.

Rather than using undef tricks, we just inject a GEM5_DEBUG macro
for gem5.debug builds.

f43e722238 cpu: Fix RAS behaviour when both isReturn and isCall are set.
As discussed in [1], current BP cannot handle the instruction
with both isReturn and isCall on RAS. This hurts the performance
of coroutine-based programs.

This patch adjusts the behaviour of RAS. When the isReturn flag
is set, it will pop a RAS. Then, if the isCall flag is set, it
will push a RAS. Previous implementation only pop a RAS when both
isReturn and isCall are set.

This behaviour follows the RISC-V Spec [2]. Since other ISAs do
not have instructions that set both isCall and isReturn, this
patch has no impact on other ISAs.

aa949dba0f cpu: In SimpleIndirectPredictor, avoid an accidental nullptr deref.
The default value of IPredEntry::tag is 0, and if we just blindly
compare the tag we're looking for against this value, we might run into
cases where we match against an uninitialized IPredEntry. In that case,
IPredEntry::target has not been initialized, and if we try to use it in
lookup(...) we'll dereference nullptr and segfault.

To avoid that, we can just add one additional check that makes sure that
not only does the tag of the IPredEntry match, but also that the value
of target is not null, and so the IPredEntry *actually* has tag 0 and
isn't just uninitialized.

974a47dfb9 misc: Adopt the gem5 namespace
Apply the gem5 namespace to the codebase.

Some anonymous namespaces could theoretically be removed,
but since this change's main goal was to keep conflicts
at a minimum, it was decided not to modify much the
general shape of the files.

A few missing comments of the form "// namespace X" that
occurred before the newly added "} // namespace gem5"
have been added for consistency.

std out should not be included in the gem5 namespace, so
they weren't.

ProtoMessage has not been included in the gem5 namespace,
since I'm not familiar with how proto works.

Regarding the SystemC files, although they belong to gem5,
they actually perform integration between gem5 and SystemC;
therefore, it deserved its own separate namespace.

Files that are automatically generated have been included
in the gem5 namespace.

The .isa files currently are limited to a single namespace.
This limitation should be later removed to make it easier
to accomodate a better API.

Regarding the files in util, gem5:: was prepended where
suitable. Notice that this patch was tested as much as
possible given that most of these were already not
previously compiling.

14f14f9a62 arch, cpu, sim: Move the null and nop StaticInstPtrs to their own files.
The nullStaticInstPtr was low overhead, but the nopStaticInstPtr needed
an actual StaticInst implementation it could point to, and that brought
with it some (minor) additional dependencies. Specifically, the
implementation of advancePC needs the definition of TheISA::PCState,
while all other signatures/impementations in StaticInst are already
passing around that type by reference or could be made to, reducing
dependencies further.

5c8983fc18 misc: Fix remaining opening braces
These were not caught by the previous patches because
the grep used ignored:
- anonymous structures
  (e.g., "struct {")
- opening braces without leading spaces
  (e.g., "struct Name{"),
- weird chars in auto-generation files
  (e.g., "struct $name {").
- extra characters after the opening brace.
  (e.g., "struct Name { // Comment")
- typedefs (note that this is not caught by the verifier)
  (e.g., "typedef struct Name {")

Most of this has been fixed be grepping structures
with the following regex:
  grep -nrE --exclude-dir=systemc \
    "^ *(typedef)* *(struct|class|enum|union) [^{]*{$" src/

The following makes sure that "struct{" is captured:
  grep -nrE --exclude-dir=systemc \
    "^ *(struct|class|enum|union){" src/

To find cases that contain a comment after the
opening brace:
  grep -nrE --exclude-dir=systemc \
    "^ *(struct|class|enum|union)[^{]*{\s*//" src/

2cb09e4042 arch,cpu: Collapse away TheISA::advancePC.
In most ISAs except MIPS and Power, this was implemented as
inst->advancePC(). It works just fine to call this function all the
time, but the idea had originally been that for ISAs which could simply
advance the PC using the PC itself, they could save the virtual function
call. Since the only ISAs which could skip the call were MIPS and Power,
and neither is at the point where that level of performance tuning
matters, this function can be collapsed with little downside.

If this turns out to be a performance bottleneck in the future, the way
the PC is managed could be revisited to see if we can factor out this
trip to the instruction object in the first place.

b22b7f2d66 arch, cpu: Move buildRetPC into the StaticInst class.
This was an inline function defined for each ISA, but really it makes
more sense for it to be defined by the instruction classes. The actual
return address for any given instruction can best be calculated when you
know what that instruction actually does, and also the instructions will
know about ISA level PC management.
