c353b0522a configs: Add option for mem type for GPUFS
The user will likely want to be able to specify a different type of
memory for the GPU rather than using the same default for the CPU. Add
the option to do that.

4387321bed configs: Exit GPUFS script if DKMS module does not exist
The supported version of ROCm in GPUFS only supports the DKMS build of
the amdgpu driver. However, since a gem5 user can potentially pass in
any Linux kernel as a parameter, it is possible that the DKMS package
for that kernel was not installed on the disk image. This would result
in the simulation appearing to work when in reality it is just spinning
waiting for commands from the driver. This check exits gem5 early in the
simulation and outputs an error on the console to sanity check the
correct driver is being used.

79a93f3429 stdlib: Incorporating multi-isa work to the stdlib
The main restriction with this design is it results in one ISA target
per board. The ISA is declared per core. To make the design simpler it's
assumed a Processor (a collection of cores) are all of the same ISA. As
each board has one processor, this also means a board is typically tied
to one ISA per simulation.

In order to remain backwards compatible and maintain the standard
library APIs, this patch adds a `--main-isa` parameter which will
determine what `gem5.runtime.get_runtime_isa` returns in cases where
mutliple ISAs are compiled in. When setting the ISA in a simulation (via
the Processor or Cores), the user may, as before, choose not to and, in
this case, the `gem5.runtime.get_runtime_isa` function is used.

The `gem5.runtime.get_runtime_isa` function is an intermediate step
which should be removed in future versions of gem5 (users should specify
precisely what ISA they want via configuration scripts). For this reason
it throws a warning when used and should not be heavily relied upon. It
is deprecated.

91e8bbe299 configs,gpu-compute: Support fetch from system pages
The amdgpu driver supports fetching instructions from pages which reside
in system memory rather than device memory. This changeset adds support
to do this by adding the system hub object added in a prior changeset to
the fetch unit and issues requests to the system hub if the system bit
in the memory page's PTE is set. Otherwise, the requestor ID is set to
be device memory and the request is routed through the Ruby network /
GPU caches to fetch the instructions.

8b30b6520a configs: Add GPU TLBs for GPU full system
Add the constructors for the Vega TLB and TLB coalescers in the python
config. These need a pointer to the gpu device which is added as a
parameter. The last level TLB's page table walker is added as a dma
device to the system so that the port is connected to the GPU device
memory in the disjoint VIPER configuration file.

A portion of the the GPUFS system configuration file needs to be
shuffled around so that the shader CPU is created before the TLBs are
created so they can be connected to the shader's ports. This means the
real CPU init code needs to break once reaching the shader. The vendor
string must also be set after createThreads is called on real CPUs.

dd20be6ca9 configs: Fix XBar assert with odd number of CPUs
The CorePairs in MOESI_AMD_Base round up the number of CPUs when
creating CPU sequencers. If the CPU count is an odd number, this was
causing the Disjoint_VIPER config to connect a sequencer that does not
exist. As a result the crossbar was waiting for a range change from the
sequencer but it never arrived, causing an assert.

This patch fixes this by conditionally connecting CPU sequencers to the
PIO port only if the ID is less than the number of CPUs.

a8aa175c7f configs, gpu-compute: change default GPU reg allocator to dynamic
The current default GPU register allocator is the "simple" policy,
which only allows 1 wavefront to run at a time on each CU. This is
not very realistic and also means the tester (when not specifically
choosing the dynamic policy) is less rigorous in terms of validating
correctness.

To resolve this, this commit changes the default to the "dynamic"
register allocator, which runs as many waves per CU as there are
space in terms of registers and other resources -- thus it is more
realistic and does a better job of ensuring test coverage.

f67ff25f7b arch-riscv, dev: add VirtIO entropy device(VirtIORng) support
Systemd, which is used by many main stream Linux distributions,
will lead to slow boot if entropy is low. On X86 platforms,
this problem can be alleviated by enabling RDRAND instructions.
However, RISC-V doesn't have similar instructions. For QEMU/KVM,
this problem can be solved by passing randomness from the host
via virtio_rng. But gem5 doesn't have VirtIORng support now.

Some user report that the boot time of riscv-ubuntu-run.py is
too long. To alleviate this problem, this patch add VirtIORng
device support for gem5.

35f18c4c50 stdlib, configs: Set SPEC examples partition param to optional
The SPEC2006 and SPEC2017 example configs require the passing of SPEC
disk image to function correctly. Prior to this commit a root partition
parameter was required. However, disk images don't necessarily have
partitions. In this case an empty string needed passed.

This patch makes the root partition parameter optional. If a disk image
does not have a root partition, it does not need specified.

Enable a gem5 system to be an SST::Component.

This change includes,
  - SST::gem5Component: responsible for,
      - initializing the Python environment for gem5
      - instantiating gem5 SimObjects
      - connecting SST::SSTResponderSubComponent to
gem5::OutgoingRequestBridge
      - hanlding the gem5 event queue (no thread-synchronization)
      - handling executing gem5 events
  - SST::SSTResponderSubComponent: responsible for,
      - receiving gem5 requests and sending the requests to
memory.
      - sending responses to the corresponding
gem5::OutgoingRequestBridge.
  - SST::SSTResponder: owned by SSTResponderSubComponent, the
actual actor that sends gem5's requests to memory.
  - gem5::OutgoingRequestBridge: receives the requests from
gem5 and sends them to SST. This SimObject allows the initialization
requests to be cached and the receiver could query the
initialization data later on.
  - gem5::SSTResponderInterface: the interface specifying how SST
communicates with gem5.
  - A working example of a gem5/SST setup.

de7337a32a misc: Replace master/slave terminology from BaseCPU.py
In order to fix several regression failures [1] the master/slave
terminology in src/cpu/BaseCPU.py was reintroduced [2].

This patch is addressing the issue by providing 2 different
ways of connecting cpu ports:

*) connectBus: The method assumes an object with a bus interface is
passed as an argument, therefore it tries to bind cpu ports to the
bus.mem_side_ports and bus.cpu_side_ports

*) connectAllPorts: No assumption on the port owning device is made.
The method simply accepts ports as arguments which will be directly
connected to the peer cpu ports
This will be used for example by ruby Sequencers

ddb4a84efd stdlib: Move 'connect_things' to AbstractBoard constructor
This patch moves 'connect_things' to the AbstractBoard constructor,
thereby meaning it does not need to be called directly in gem5
configuration scripts. This method has been changed to private as a
result.

As boards that inherit from AbstractBoard require certain things to be
setup prior to `connect_things` being called, a new abstract function,
`_setup_board` has been created. This is called in the AbstractBoard
constructor before `connect_things` and can be overridden by boards to
setup board properties as required.
